For those who don't know about Open Table, church volunteers offer a 2 course meal with tea and coffee, starting at 1 pm in the church hall (bottom of the hill next to the British Legion). It is normally on the second Saturday of the month. This is open to anyone to meet and have a chat over lunch for an hour or so. We accept a monetary donation for the meal and dessert afterwards to pay for the food supplied and the cooking involved. It’s a way of making friends, or chatting to current friends, and we welcome those who wish to attend (but please book your place if you haven't already done so).
DECEMBER LUNCH POSTPONED
After much thought and discussion, we have regretfully decided that it would be in the best interest of all concerned that the scheduled Open Table is postponed. Government advice is frequently changing. Rather than leave a decision any longer, we feel it best to act now. Although there isn't usually a January lunch, there WILL be one on Saturday 15th January instead. Joyce, Linda and Alison are sad they have had to make this decision but it seems wise at the moment. Hopefully, it will be something for everyone to look forward to after Christmas and the New Year and will brighten up the gloomy January days. They hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.
The lunch on Saturday 6th November was a Guy Fawkes night theme serving jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings, followed by apple crumble or bread pudding and custard was available for those who wished to have it.
Our first Open Table meal for almost 2 years was on 9th October. It was wonderful to see so many of our former diners again. We used our new refurbished kitchen and everyone liked the newly decorated and carpeted café area. All went well and Linda and Alison would like to thank all of the helpers they had on the day. (You can see a few photos from that day below.)
